High level mission of Commissioner Phil Hogan to Canada, (1- 3 May 2017)
From 1-3 May, EUCOFEL’s Secretary General Ms Ridao-Bouloumié joined the High level mission of Commissioner Phil Hogan to Canada.
The mission was very useful for the European Fruit and Vegetable sector, offering great opportunities to forge a new cooperation with Canadian companies and engage in a direct debate with Canadian officials to address some of the barriers faced by European Fruit and Vegetable exporters.
EUCOFEL’s representative participated in the Business Forum presenting the EU Fruit and Vegetable sector to Canadian buyers and authorities.
EUCOFEL’s presentation made at the Business Forum is available here:
The visit of the Ontario Food Terminal was also very valuable for our sector. The Ontario Food Terminal is the largest wholesale fruit and produce distribution centre in Canada, and the third largest in North America. The terminal distributes over 2 Billion Pounds of produce annually (an average 5.5 million pounds per day). Ontario Food Terminal accounts 5,000 Registered buyers, 21 Warehouse tenants, 400 Farmers’ Market tenants and 50 Office tenants.
During the visit, we had the chance to meet with potential partners, clients and buyers’ representatives.
We would like to thank again Commissioner Hogan, DG AGRI and CHAFEA representatives for the excellent organisation and work done for this mission.
