Defense of the European Fruits & Vegetables Production
Building ongoing dialogue between European fruit and vegetable producers and the European Union is our raison d’être. We work to be a communication channel between two realities, the farmland and the European institutions, which seem distant but both are indispensable for putting healthy food on our tables.
FruitVegetablesEUROPE works side by side with its members to bring their demands and concerns to the heart of the Europe. We believe that the agricultural and trade policies of the European Union must respond to the reality of the agricultural sector and value the daily work that our producers do to ensure food security.
How do we advocate for European fruit and vegetable producers?
Working Groups and raising the voice of European sector
Our Secretariat carries out many actions throughout the year to keep the members of FruitVegetablesEUROPE (EUCOFEL) up to date with the progress of European policies and regulations.
The main topics we monitor and analyze are:
The Common Agricultural Policy (CAP)
Bilateral & Multilateral Trade Negotiations and Agreements
EU Promotion and Quality Policies
Market Access
Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) policies and law
Tariff and Non-Tariff Barriers

FruitVegetablesEUROPE & the European Institutions
The Association is in permanent contact with the European institutions to discuss the general developments of the Common Agricultural Policy, the Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) measures, and specific issues of particular importance, such as the European Union’s external trade relations.
With the European Commission, we work together through the Commission’s Advisory Groups, such as the SPS Market Access Working Group or the EU trade meetings with Civil Society. Besides, we have a personal contact at the staff level and transmits letters and written positions to the EU Commissioners with policy recommendations for the sector.
Regarding the European Parliament, we collaborate with MEP’s, in particular with the members of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development and the Committee on International Trade, as well as the political groups.
Lastly, FruitVegetablesEUROPE cooperates with the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) thought the Domestic Advisory Groups, where we monitor the implementation of Free Trade Agreements.
Let’s Work Together!
