The Spanish citrus sector produces 7-7.5 million MT with an average value of 4,000 – 4,310 million €. For the preparation and marketing of this fruit there are around 450 companies in Spain that select and pack the fruit and sell around 5.6 million tonnes of fresh citrus between the domestic and export markets. Around 3/4 of the volume of Spanish citrus marketed fresh (packaged) is harvested, handled, packed and dispatched/exported by private exporters and the POs that make up their productions, represented by this Citrus Management Committee (CGC).
